Adventure at Tropical World – It’s Feathers Galore! with Barbara Ellison

Spend the morning chasing exotic chickens and roosters, ducks and turkeys through the landscape of the wholesale operation of Tropical World Nursery in Loxahatchee Groves. Corgi dogs and cats supervise the birds, which can make for some comical images and action shots. With several greenhouses and outdoor plantings, you will have many opportunities for macro and abstract shots as well. Barbara Ellison will guide you through the orchid and exotic plant greenhouses with information on creating orchid portraits.

Achieving Your Vision with Tim Grey
It is a common occurrence in photography: You capture an image you believe will be incredible, only to be disappointed when you view the image on your computer’s monitor. In this session, you’ll learn how to approach a digital photograph in order to better achieve the vision you had when you first clicked the shutter release. Besides learning to recognize the important elements of the photograph, you’ll learn techniques for emphasizing specific areas of the photo as well as methods for creating the desired mood for the image with a variety of creative techniques.

Photographers rarely develop the intuitive understanding of Hue, Saturation, and Luminance that painters routinely use. After a brief introduction and demo, guided practice with a new set of original hands-on exercises will help you experience how color works and how to adjust it most effectively. These exercises will stretch your ability to see and work with color. Participants must have basic knowledge of and experience with the Lightroom Develop Module.

The Adjustment Brush and Graduated Filter in Lightroom 2 with John Reuter
Explore the versatility of the Adjustment Brush and Graduated Filter in Lightroom 2 to bring added efficiency to your digital workflow. The Adjustment Brush makes adjustments without layers that are completely non-destructive and barely increase the file size. The Graduated Filter allows you to make broader and more linear adjustments. Now you can do more of your final image corrections in Lightroom 2 without having to export to Photoshop. Individual settings such as Flow, Auto Mask and Density offer new mastery over burning and dodging and selective sharpening.

Craig’s still images hang on walls of hospitals throughout the country, including the Mayo Clinic. He is currently a senior fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing.

Assembling a Photograph Digital Lighting Techniques for the 21st Century with Lee Varis
Lee Varis reveals his trademark lighting techniques for digital photography. Several idiosyncratic lighting effects will be explored including: White-light, rainbow lighting technique; Still life "layered" lighting technique; Digital and traditional light painting techniques; Slow-shutter, combo-lighting effects; Faux light painting in Photoshop. Special emphasis will be placed on techniques that are more easily accomplished with digital photography or are literally impossible to achieve without digital cameras.

Power of Raw Processing with Lewis Kemper
Learn the best ways to shoot and process Raw files. Unleash the power of Raw processing and file management using Adobe Photoshop and Bridge as well as Adobe Lightroom. The Raw image has been described as the digital negative but that negative needs to be processed. Using the tools found in the Raw processor the photographer gains full control of the image. In this session we will learn how to use the Raw processor to its fullest capabilities and how to apply these changes to groups of images to expedite the digital workflow. We will check out the differences between the Adobe’s Photoshop/Bridge or Lightroom solution.
